Live updates

Wow, time really does fly when you are having fun! I have come home from the live, re-invigorated, inspired and ready to hack, melt and sculpt every plastic pony in the house. I also came home to NAN. Live streamed on the web, I was glued to it, as this was the very first time any of my CMs were going to be there. I was so very glad I did as Komos got a Top 10 in Light/Gaited/Spanish Foals http://nan.cgi101.com/results13/results.cgi?5000 With many thanks to Jaime Baker for his finishwork, Liz Cassel for tirelessly Proxy showing him for me, and Beth Patterson for taking him to NAN and the photo Komos is now on his way home where he will do the show circuit here, then onto a special new home. I adore Live show photos, pounce on them like a kid onto lollies. So I feel a little guilty I have not shared these before now. I arrived at the show early, in fact I was the very first one there, which is not very conducive to rattly nerves, but I had nothing to worry abut, the ponies ...

Totilas #4 Capriole Lipizzaner

Image
This fellow is a little more drastic then the first three. I have CM'ed him to a Lipizzaner stallion performing Capriole. This fellow is the very first idea that popped into my mind when I first saw the Totilas mould. I have finally finished his sculpting and begun his painting. Do you know how hard it is to paint inside a mouth! Sheesh! I am contemplating taking him to Melbourne Live, as I will be there with Hermes, and helping out with some judging. It would be nice to actually have something on the table :) Of course it will be absolutely terrifying, but oh so fun! He will have an acrylic rod once he is finished, most likely set onto an acrylic base as well to be as unobtrusive as possible. More on the studio bench, all edging closer to being done... More soon ...

Totilas #3

To do list; Paint a buckskin *tick*   My very first buckskin. I have always been too chicken to paint this colour, and as I expected, it was immensly difficult. I nearly stopped at the earlier stages in his paler shades, leaving him palomino, but I had a vision for the boy, and felt it would be a cop out if I did. I felt the sooty contrasting golds and browns would really enhance his sculptural work I am really really happy with him, and quietly chuffed that I pushed myself through. All thanks to Jaime Baker and her brilliant DVD's, they have really brought my finish work on in leaps and bounds, not to mention my confidence. Well technically he is #3, but Spanish walk is taking longer in the colour department. Heracles and Hermes together. Makes me fuzzy :) Hermes has sold, but Heracles is currently up for grabs http://www.modelhorsesalespages.com/view.asp?id=990188&p=g More soon ...

Manes and tails

Image
Today was a day of manes and tails. I am pretty happy with how the lads are progressing. He is a magnificent mould, beautifully sculpted by Brigitte, and very well cast by Breyer. He needs very little prep, except for his mane seam. I have actually found myself suprised when picking up a primered model, he is so 'resin like' in apperance I expect him to be heavier. #1 is now painted and ready for his sale photos. Please excuse the washed out/sunlit pic' but he was just too nice not to add. #2 Spanish Walk. He got his mane and half his tail today. #3 Piaffe. He got his braids and his tail is roughed out, ready for work tomorrow. I like him much better with his ears turned back.   ...and #4 Piaffe. He still has a lot of prep work, like buckets of it to go. More soon!
