Hairy dilemas!

Image
I am in a hairy dilema. Sally has a bucket load of sculpting still to go, not to mention hooouuurrsss of sanding, and all the yummy little details. But it is time to put in the wire for his tail, and start thinking about which way to go. I don't need his tail for support, as the big fulla stand very well on his own. I can go Mud Knot for his tail and running braid for the mane or.. short pulled mane and loose tail. or... running braid for the mane and loose tail I have done some research, looked at every Lippizaner stallion photo I could find on the internet, and have come to the conclusion that short pulled mane and loose tail are the norm, followed very closely by running braid in the mane and a loose tail. Moving into mud knots in the tail when the stallion is performing the highest Haute Air movements. Hence the dilema, which to choose! What do you guys think, I would love to hear opinions? Earlier this week, I also got a new shipment o...

Winter.

Wet, cold and miserable. My least favourite time of year, and we are not even two weeks in. On the bright side, the less time I spend outside, the more time I spend inside playing with clay. Salinero has finally decided to play nice and is chuffing along beautifully. The cheeky photo bomber is a new CM on the bench, Weather Girl. She is going to be rounded out a lot more to give her some age. Her face will also be tweaked to give her a softer more ethereal aura. I am not a fan of bases for horses, much preferring to go with acrylic rods, this girly however is seriously motorbiking into the turn, making her base indispensable. The next little chaps are my Welsh pony commissions, they are in the  Mr Miyagi phase, and are almost ready for their manes and tails. And last of all, my next commission piece. A Mini Nahar by Sarah Rose. The little chap is being CM'ed to a Park Arabian. I am stunned at how much a little shifting has changed this lit...

Fluff n' Stuff

Image
No real news out of the Studio, but I have been Fluffin' in between working on my commissions. Kelly is still fluffin' along. As she is for me to show when finished, I am in no rush to complete her. There are a lot of things bothering me about her still, and apart from her chest and near side shoulder, I have not even added the muscles in yet. But I really like where I see her heading. Fat bum...as I am now calling her..is going to be painted up as a portait of my QHx filly (she is known as lard a**e, so it is not a far stretch) once she is finished. My second lot of fluff is the first liddle Humprey CM is very nearly done, except for some prepping and a lot of sanding. I keep telling myself I will start all my CMs by doing the prep work first, but I never remember :) Sally has become my dumping ground for my left over Apoxie Sculpt, so he is going reaallly slow, not so much fluffin' with him. I think he is going to give me trou...

Next please!

I expected to be painting this week. I had a Humphrey resin (white/grey) a Whisper resin (bay) and three plastic CMs that are ready or close to ready for paint. Two of the plastics have sold, Valentine and PAM, and I will not be the painter of either :) They are both going off overseas for their new coats. That left me a little lost. I don't like not having a couple of traditional size CM's going, and Kelly is at the refinement stage, so I have dug through the body box. Out came Keltic Salinero, and on came the Dremel *impish chuckle* Sally was going to be another WB in a flying extended trot, but as I started cutting, he told me he does not want to be a Warmblood anymore...he wants to be a Lipanzzaner! Research time! After a morning of photo collecting, I thought I knew what I was doing, lol, Sally once again had other ideas! This is where he is now...a few more tweaks and he would be performing a great Pasade... but this is where he wants to be! He wants ...
