Remember the stablemates I sculpted last year, the ones that all flew off to the USA and the capable hands of Jaime Baker. Well one of them came home ...here is his story; *****     I got the most beautiful surprise this afternoon! A HUGE box from the from Jaime Baker Customs. An armful of Stablemates (YAY!) and 6 old beat up beauties by Maureen Love. As all Aussies know, model horses over here are expensive and bodies hard to come by, especially the old guys, I am so grateful to Jaime for all of these wonderful ponies   THIS is the best part! When I opened the box, on top was a pony pouch, inside the pouch was a beautiful card with Jaime's much loved doggie Stewie's paw print. Stewie has very sadly just recently passed away from cancer, I was so touched to receive such a treasured memento of the beautiful boy I delved deeper and found a box, inside the box, a letter. The letter was a thank you from Anna Kirby of ... Dreamflite Design, an artesian of ...

All finished and up on MH$P. http://www.modelhorsesalespages.com/view.asp?id=951628&p=g He ended up being chestnut sabino, I painted him after a ripper little Welsh mountain pony "Ellenbank Tango Tom" one of my all time favourite Welsh ponies. Really pleased with how he has turned out :)

I have been completely lost without my Dremel *sobs softly*. but the new one is on it's way and should be here early next week. YAAAYY! Things have slowed right down, but necessity is the mother of invention, and I have found other ways..looong wrist aching ways, but ways none the less :) Finished and ready for paint is a jumping Welsh A, this little guy is screaming for a girly colour, I have chosen dappled golden palomino, probably sabino. I have dubbed him 'Alexander'. Alexander is a CM of the Classic scale Rearing Stallion, so is the perfect size for a traditional scale pony. He is so stinkin' cute I want to squish him! Weather girl has 'half a tail' to go with her 'half a face' Something is bugging me deeply about her, the angle she is on is making her difficult to photograph and analyse, so I have been unable to put my finger on it, but I am sure it will come. Probably in the middle of the night, around 3am leaving me unable to...

Are finished! I am pretty happy with how the little boogers have turned out, more importantly though, their owner is happy too. They are off to England for their coats of colour from Deb Brown. They will be a cute little pair of Scurry ponies and will also moonlight as gaming ponies. I literally cannot wait to see them in action!

Wet, cold and miserable. My least favourite time of year, and we are not even two weeks in. On the bright side, the less time I spend outside, the more time I spend inside playing with clay. Salinero has finally decided to play nice and is chuffing along beautifully.  The cheeky photo bomber is a new CM on the bench, Weather Girl. She is going to be rounded out a lot more to give her some age. Her face will also be tweaked to give her a softer more ethereal aura. I am not a fan of bases for horses, much preferring to go with acrylic rods, this girly however is seriously motorbiking into the turn, making her base indispensable. The next little chaps are my Welsh pony commissions, they are in the  Mr Miyagi phase, and are almost ready for their manes and tails. And last of all, my next commission piece. A Mini Nahar by Sarah Rose. The little chap is being CM'ed to a Park Arabian. I am stunned at how much a little shifting has changed this lit...

Never be afraid to change what has already been done. It can be heartbreaking to go back and undo what has already be done, but always listen to the little voice in the back of your mind that is yelling over the top of everything else. If I had listened, i could have fixed this right back in the melt and squish phase, but I am nothing if not stubborn. So I had all but finished the sculpting on this Welshies hind legs, but things were really not gelling, with me or my client. Not enough 'OOMPH' His hind end was being left behind by his front end. So cuts were made, on the computer first... Then real cuts were made. Legs fell off, hooves were melted, fingers were stuck together. Stifle dropped, hips shifted back, back lowered, hocks bent, and pasterns weighted. Still more tweaking to do, but I am much much happier already, and the little voice has finally stopped screaming at me :) More soon.....

I have been stewing for days about what to write to mark this momentous occasion...trying for inspiration. I have come to the conclusion that I may not be wired to put forth pearls of wisdom, lol. Nor am I much into reminiscing, so I will go with a Studio update instead :D I have been happily cutting up ponies..... and painting them... Happy 100th :)

The first commissions in my studio are a couple of CMs on the Midnight Tango mould. Their owner has graciously let me share the process with my Blog readers. They are going to be remade into a hooning little Welsh A harness pair. Yay! Welshies! Number 1 pony has a date with the Dremel today...

Now I am not prone to bouts of emotion. I am deeply conservative, and sophisticated (well not really sophisticated, actually not even close! But I would dearly love to be!). I do not suffer from the giggles or other girly outbreaks, but today was most certainly one out of the box! I giggled and danced (yes I danced ...no it was not pretty) and grinned my way all around the kitchen/studio. Because these are the photos I received this morning from Jaime Baker ! You can see all his photos and his auction here! Is he not absolutely wonderful! Jaime has drawn out his character and brought him to breathing life. Look at that kissy spot! The roaning on his cheek! The colour and shading is his tail, I want to run my fingers through his hair! All photos By Jaime Baker The story behind this little fellow? I was the c0-judge at River City Live (partnered by the uber talented Liz Shaw ) and our Stablemate Supreme Champion was an exquisite dapple grey painted by Jaime ...

First up is my little stablemate CM on the breyer Belgian mold. He was CM'ed to a show off Welsh D gelding. The very exciting news with this boy is that he is now in the hands of the uber talented Jaime Baker, and when I say Uber, I mean UUUUUUBBBBBBEEEEEERRRRR! I practically beside myself to see the clothes that Jaime creates for this boy! He will be up for sale from Jaime on completion :) My DUN donation is nearly complete, she just needs a few more little tweaks and details and the rest of her tail. She took a tumble (I am ridiculously clumbsy!) and broke off an ear, so I have replaced them. She has been braided up, and her face has been refined and dried out giving her a bit of age, just what I expect to see in the leading rein classes at our finest shows. I am onto her third tail, the first two were just not the airy fine haired tails you see on show ponies. This one is the charm though, I think I have finally got it. :) Finally ...this is my donation to Las Vegas Live 2012, a...
